RRPD blotter: November 25-November 29, 2015

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Tuesday November 25, 2015

At approximately 9:15 p.m., Lieutenant Charles Burnette and Officer Patrick Smith responded to a disturbance call at Woodbury Apartments.

Officers found two children crying outside of one of the apartments.

When officers checked the children’s apartment they found no adult supervision and found narcotics in plain view inside the residence.

While officers contacted social services the mother, Christian Patrice Alston, 26, of Roanoke Rapids, returned.

Alston reported there was an argument between the father of the children and she left the children.

Smith cited Alston for possession of schedule VI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was released until her December 18 court date.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., Burnette returned to the apartment for a call about someone trying to get in by climbing up the backside.

Burnette saw Phillip Tyrone Putney, 29, of Roanoke Rapids, running away, ignoring Burnette's command to stop.

Officers took Putney, the children’s father, into custody after a brief chase and charged him with resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer and served another outstanding warrant for driving while license revoked and resisting an officer.

Putney received a $1,000 bond and a December 18 court date.

The matter remains under investigation.

Sergeant Richie White and Officer Ryan Cross assisted.

Thursday November 26, 2015

At approximately 12:45 a.m., White and Cross responded to a motor vehicle collision on Hinson Street near Branch Avenue.

The officers found a vehicle on its side with no one around it.

Cross determined during investigation Terronie Todd Purnell, 27, of Roanoke Rapids, was the driver.

Cross arrested and charged Purnell with driving while impaired, driving while license revoked, careless and reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Purnell was released to the custody of a responsible person and has a January 15 court date.

At approximately 11 p.m., Officer Joey Spragins conducted a traffic stop at Highway 48 and Rosemary Street for a violation.

During the stop Jonathan Lynn Johnston, 22, of Roanoke Rapids, was found in possession of drug paraphernalia and a fictitious registration.

Spragins cited Johnston for possession of drug paraphernalia and the registration violation.

He was released until his January 11 court date.

Friday November 27, 2015

At approximately 1 a.m., Master Officer Gerald Morris responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Oleg Leon, 21, of Roanoke Rapids, took items from the store without paying.

Morris arrested and charged Leon with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

He received a $500 bond and December 11 court date.

White assisted.

At approximately 4 a.m., Cross responded to a call about a fight in the 100 block of Madison Street.

Cross saw several people in a yard and Zatez Shermal Perry, 16, of Roanoke Rapids, began cursing the officer when he attempted to talk to him, pacing back and forth.

Cross attempted to get Perry to calm down but the teen refused.

Cross arrested and charged Perry with disorderly conduct and resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer. Perry was released to a responsible party and has a court date of December 18.

Spragins assisted.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Officer Dale Strickland responded to a call about Phillip Kiah Jr., 24, of Roanoke Rapids, who had outstanding warrants for larceny at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Kiah took items from the store without paying in the past and warrants were obtained on him.

Strickland arrested Kiah on the outstanding warrants for larceny, possession of stolen goods and trespassing.

Kiah received a $700 bond and December 4 court date.

Lieutenant Jeff Baggett and Sergeant Mike Moseley assisted.

At approximately 5:15 p.m., Strickland responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Christopher Michael Locus, 30, of Whitakers, took items from the store without paying.

Strickland cited Locus with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

He was released until his February 8 court date.

At approximately 6 p.m., Baggett and Moseley responded to a shots fired call in the 400 block of Oak Street.

The officers encountered Tae Shaquan Jerrell Watson, 23, and Tera Patrice Marlene Boone, 22.

A gun was found along with narcotics inside a vehicle at the residence.

Watson was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm inside the city and Boone was arrested and charged with possession of schedule VI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

They received $500 bonds and January 22 court dates.

Master Officer Gorton Williams and Officer Jeffrey Mason assisted.

At approximately 11:15 p.m., Master Officer Roy Ball was on routine patrol when he noticed suspicious vehicles on the parking lot of a business on West Tenth Street.

Ball found Harris Lee Stokes Jr., 55, of Roanoke Rapids, in possession of marijuana.

Ball arrested and charged him with possession with intent to sell and deliver schedule VI; possession of schedule VI; possession of drug paraphernalia and maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance. He was also served an outstanding warrant for assault.

Harris received a $3,000 bond and January 20 court date.

Lieutenant Perry Parks and officers Jamie Hardy and Scott Blythe assisted.

Saturday November 28, 2015

At approximately noon, Williams responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Adrienne Nicole Jackman, 25, of Roanoke Rapids, took items from the store without paying.

Williams arrested and charged Jackman with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

She received a $500 bond and December 18 court date.

At approximately 5:45 p.m., Strickland responded to a call about Joseph Arnold Green, 52, of Roanoke Rapids, who had outstanding warrants for larceny at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Green took items from the store without paying in the past and warrants were obtained on him.

Strickland arrested Green on the outstanding warrants for larceny and possession of stolen goods.

Green received a $500 bond and a December 11 court date.

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Officer Greg Colson responded to a possible fraud at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Yaminah Simia Wiggins, 41, of Roanoke Rapids, allegedly tried to return property taken from the store for cash.

Colson arrested and charged Wiggins with attempting to obtain property by false pretense, larceny and possession of stolen goods.

Wiggins received a $3,500 bond and a December 12 court date.

Parks and Blythe assisted.

Sunday November 29, 2015

At approximately 8 p.m., Parks conducted a traffic stop at Hamilton and Sixth streets for a violation. During the stop the driver, Brandi Nicole Robinson, 34, of Roanoke Rapids, was found driving on a suspended license and in possession of narcotics and drug paraphernalia.

Parks cited Robinson for possession of schedule VI, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while license revoked and improper equipment.

Robinson was released until her January 29 court date.

Hardy assisted.
