RRPD blotter: December 8-9, 2015

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Tuesday December 8, 2015

At approximately 2:15 p.m, Officer Jeffery Mason responded to a larceny call at New Dixie Mart on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.

Store staff reported Derek Davon Roberts, 26, of Gaston, allegedly took items without paying.

Mason located, arrested and charged Roberts with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

He received a $4,000 bond and January 22 court date.

Master Officer Gorton Williams assisted.

Wednesday December 9, 2015

At approximately 9 a.m., Williams responded to a larceny call at CVS.

Store staff reported a person concealed merchandise while inside the store.

When employees spoke with the person he left the store.

Williams identified Joseph Ernest Lassiter, 34, of Roanoke Rapids, and obtained warrants on him for shoplifting

Hasty said Lassiter is encouraged to turn himself in.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the police department at 252-533-2810 or Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.

At approximately noon, Mason responded to a larceny call at Just Save.

Store staff reported someone allegedly took items without paying.

Mason received a description and tag number of the vehicle the person left on.

Mason identified the person as James Lee Ashe Jr., 46, of Roanoke Rapids.

Officer Adam Salmon located and arrested Ashe at a residence on Oak Street.

Ashe was charged with shoplifting and received a $2,000 bond and January 22 court date.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., Williams responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Earlene Bowser, 52, of Rich Square, allegedly took items without paying.

Williams arrested and charged Bowser with larceny and possession of stolen goods.

She received a $750 bond and January 12 court date.
