Enfield police arrested two men Sunday after they got into a dispute in which Captain Tyree Davis said alcohol played a part.

The nature of the argument was not immediately known but Davis said in a statement officers responded to a call on McWigan Street where a person was struck in the head with a handgun around 2 a.m.

Officers A. Rojas and W. Hammiel along with Detective D. Bozard located Alonzo Dozier, who was bleeding from the top of the head.

An investigation led to charges against Dozier and Steven Whitaker — Dozier charged with intoxicated and disruptive behavior and resisting an officer and Whitaker with intoxicated and disruptive, resisting an officer and simple assault.

Both received $1,000 secured bonds and January 19 court dates.

No weapons were located at the scene, Davis said.
