Task force roundup: Five charged in separate operations

The City County Drug Task Force arrested five people in separate operations today.

Shortly before 12:30 p.m. Agent D.R. Radford executed a search warrant after nearly two months of investigation.

During the search of the residence a user amount of crack cocaine, marijuana, Oxycodone, Alprazolam, Xanax, two smoking devices, cocaine snorting straws, and a razor blade were seized.

Radford arrested and charged the following:

Jasper C. Hines, 62, of Roanoke Rapids, with felony possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and maintaining a dwelling place for a controlled substance.

Hines received a $15,000 bond.

Kehaad C. Hawkins, 24, of Roanoke Rapids, for possession of marijuana up to a half-ounce, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and simple possession of Schedule II.

Hawkins received a $10,000 bond.

Erin Roberts, 39, of Roanoke Rapids, for possession of marijuana up to a half-ounce, simple possession of schedule IV controlled substance, simple possession of schedule II controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Roberts received a $5,000 bond.

All were given March 23 court dates.

Weldon Police Department Sergeant T.L. Mason and his dog Rio assisted.

Task force Captain A.M. Harris described the three as friends.

Highway 48

Shortly before 5:30 p.m., the task force, with assistance from Weldon police, executed a search warrant based on citizen complaints and a month-long investigation by Agent D. McKeel.

During the search of the residence 110 grams of marijuana, a box of sandwich bags, a digital scale, currency, and a marijuana grinder were seized.

Arrington

McKeel arrested and charged Troy Lee Arrington, 34, of Roanoke Rapids, with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to sell or deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, and maintaining a dwelling place for a controlled substance.

Arrington received a $5,000 bond and March 23 court date.

McKeel also cited David Lewis Peebles, 50, of Roanoke Rapids, for possession of up to a half ounce or less of marijuana.

He received the same court date as Arrington.
