RRPD blotter: February 15-17, 2016

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Monday February 15, 2016

At approximately 1 a.m., Lieutenant Jeff Baggett and Officer Scott Blythe responded to a domestic dispute.

The victim told officers Marquette Rashawn Watson, 24, of Roanoke Rapids, took a cellphone and damaged some property.

Baggett arrested and charged Watson, who received a $1,500 bond and March 18 court date, with larceny and damage to property.

At approximately 9 p.m., Officer Alex Green was on routine patrol when he noticed Ben-Jamel Jaquan Boyd, 23, of Roanoke Rapids, driving a vehicle although his license was revoked.

Green conducted a traffic stop at East Tenth and Raleigh streets and noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

During a search the officer located marijuana and paraphernalia.

Green cited Boyd, who was released until his April 11 court date, for possession of schedule VI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Master Officer Adam Salmon assisted.

At approximately 9:15 p.m., Salmon responded to a vehicle collision in the 600 block of Hamilton Street.

Salmon discovered a vehicle in the roadway with damage and the driver, Ian Michael Stricklett, 24, of Roanoke Rapids, walking around it.

Salmon determined Stricklett was impaired and his license revoked.

Salmon arrested and charged Stricklett with driving while impaired, driving while license revoked, no insurance and damage to property.

He received a $2,500 bond and March 14 court date.

Baggett, Green and Officer Jeffrey Mason assisted.

Tuesday February 16, 2016

At approximately 1:30 p.m, Officer Natara Velazquez responded to a larceny call at Walmart.

Loss prevention reported Deborah Dianne Warwick, 57, of Roanoke Rapids, took items.

Velazquez cited Warwick, who was released until her May 6 court date, for larceny and possession of stolen goods.

Officer Jason Williams assisted.

Wednesday February 17, 2016

At approximately 12:15 p.m., Officer Chris Biggerstaff responded to a larceny call at Roses.

Staff reported Darius Dewayne Lewter, 27, of Roanoke Rapids, took items.

Biggerstaff cited Lewter, who was released until his March 3 court date, for shoplifting.

Williams assisted.

At approximately 8:45 p.m., Master Officer Gerald Morris and Officer Chris Byrum responded to a trespasser call at T.J. Davis.

When the officers pulled up, several people attempted to run away. One stopped when officers ordered them to do so.

Morris took Steven Andrew Lyles, 17, into custody after a short foot chase.

Morris charged Lyles, who received a $500 bond and March 11 court date, with trespassing and resisting/delaying/obstructing an officer.
