The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Friday March 4, 2016

At approximately 11:30 p.m., Investigator Gorton Williams and Officer Ryan Cross located and arrested Donate O’Neil Miles, 25, of Garysburg, on outstanding warrants for obtaining property by false pretense.

These charges stem from a matter reported last September investigated by Lieutenant C.L. Vaught.

The victim reported they inquired about renting a house from Miles and wired him money.

Investigation showed, however, Miles did not have the authority to make the transaction.

Miles was also served a fugitive warrant from Maryland for fraud charges.

He was jailed without opportunity for bond on the fugitive warrant.

Officer Dale Strickland assisted.

Saturday March 5, 2016

At approximately 12:30 p.m., Officer Alex Green responded to a trespasser call at Walmart.

Loss prevention told Halifax Central Tajiri Rahimu Lee, 31, of Roanoke Rapids, was on the property asking for money and was warned of not doing this in the past.

Green located Lee, who received a $500 bond and April 29 court date, and arrested him for trespassing.

Sunday March 6, 2016

At approximately 5:15 p.m., Officer Chris Biggerstaff responded to a trespasser call at New Dixie Mart on Julian R. Allsbrook Highway.

Store staff told Biggerstaff Michael Linn Fleming, 52, of Roanoke Rapids, was begging for money despite being told not to do so.

Biggerstaff arrested and charged Fleming, who received a $500 bond and April 1 court date, with trespassing.

Sergeant Mark Peck and Officer Natara Velazquez assisted.
