The Weldon Police Department is seeking the woman pictured above for questioning in a wallet theft that occurred Tuesday at the Cloverleaf Shell beside the former Interstate Inn.

Captain James Avens said the victim left after making a purchase but left her wallet on the counter. When she went back to retrieve it, it was gone.

It is believed the woman in the photo, who also made a purchase, allegedly took the wallet and put it in a bag with her other items.

It was later reported the wallet, minus $57 in cash, was found in a drop box at the Roanoke Rapids Post Office.

A green Dodge Neon with a faded hood may be involved.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Weldon Police Department at 252-536-3136 or Halifax County Crimestoppers at 252-583-4444.
