A collision reconstruction team continues to investigate a May 14 crash that left a man with traumatic head injury, the state Highway Patrol said this afternoon.

Sergeant B.W. Overton said the victim, 79-year-old Wilson Jarrell, doesn’t remember the crash that involved him and a highway patrol trooper.

Overton said Jarrell has been moved to a section of Vidant Medical Center in Greenville that specifically deals with brain injuries.

The wreck occurred on Highway 158 about two-tenths of a mile west of Everett’s School Road. Jarrell was on a tractor and was struck by a patrol car driven by Trooper A.A. Lucas, who was responding to a three-vehicle wreck with blue lights and sirens on.

Overton said this afternoon evidence shows that Jarrell was attempting to make a left turn onto private property when the collision occurred.

The reconstruction team will forward its report to the district attorney’s office once it is complete.
