Smith served in an interim role earlier this year before being named vice president Tuesday. Prior to her service at HCC, Smith was most recently the interim vice president of finance at Mount Olive College.

She has also held positions with Georgia-Pacific, Mid-Atlantic Eye Physicians, North Carolina Wesleyan College, Wake Forest University, Ernst and Young, the National Board for Certified Counselors and North Carolina State University.

Smith earned a Master of Accounting and a bachelor’s degree in accounting from North Carolina State University.
