Lieutenant Roy Rooks said in a news release that Hosea Loren Lewis, 24, of Louisburg, was residing in the Scotland Neck area.
An initial attempt to serve a warrant at a residence on Highway 903 was unsuccessful.
Deputies Matt Brown and Dennis Coley, however, received information that Lewis was on Roanoke Street near 14th Street and went to that location.
There they saw two men sitting in a car behind a residence. Brown noticed the passenger had a firearm. Rooks said the deputies quickly took action and took him into custody.
The deputies served the Franklin County warrants for felony possession of a counterfeit instrument, resisting a public officer and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Brown charged Lewis on local counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana and carrying a concealed weapon.
Lewis was jailed on $74,000 bond and has a September 25 court date.
