A threat call in the P&J community resulted in the seizure of a stolen handgun and the arrest of a Roanoke Rapids man Saturday after the alleged suspect drove by while the victim was talking with law enforcement .

Lieutenant George Evans of the Halifax County Sheriff's Office said the motivation behind the threat was unclear but the victim shortly before 2 p.m. stated that four people, described as black males, came to his house in a brown Chevy van and made threats to him.

The victim said there was a shotgun and handgun involved.

As Deputy C.E. Carroll was talking with the victim, the van drove by and the deputy stopped it.

The four males were inside and detained for investigation. Deputy E. Johnson and the state Highway Patrol assisted, recovering a handgun but no other weapon.

Three of the men were released but 20-year-old Jaqwan Devonte Dancy was arrested for possession of a stolen firearm and possession of marijuana.

Dancy received a $3,000 bond and November 27 court date.
