Four were discovered Friday morningand a couple of more were discovered Saturday morning, the city said.
The city initially thought the vehicles were vandalized with black paint but upon closer inspection it appears that shoe polish may have been squirted on them and the side of the recreation center as the substance was washed off.
“While it could be washed off, it cost the taxpayers time and money,” Captain Andy Jackson of the police department said. “We want the kids to come out and play and have fun but we won't tolerate city property being vandalized.”
