Neighbor looking out for neighbor Sunday helped the Halifax County Sheriff's Office nab an alleged breaking and entering perpetrator.

Robinson

Major Scott Hall said Melvin Eugene Robinson, 47, was arrested shortly after he allegedly broke out a window on Kirkland Street in Littleton around 8:30 a.m.

A nearby neighbor heard glass break and went to investigate, finding the broken window and notifying the sheriff's office as Robinson fled the scene.

Deputy J. Keeter, a sheriff's office dog handler, was in the area and went to investigate, Hall said.

Keeter arrested Robinson, of Highway 158, Littleton, moments later and served him an outstanding warrant and charged him with breaking and entering and injury to real property.

Nothing was taken following the breaking and entering.

“This was a direct result of neighbor looking out for neighbors,” Hall said.

Robinson was jailed on a $2,000 secured bond and has a January 22 court date.
