Varsity Jackets come back and win opener

RRHS gets the victory over Nash Central by the score of 7-6.

 

Kyle Vincent picked up the win on the mound in relief of Cole Phelps and Ryan Williams.  Cole Phelps pitched 4 innings striking out 4 batters.  Ryan Williams pitched 2 and 1/3 innings striking out 3 batters.  

 

RRHS trailed by the score of 6-4 heading into the bottom of the 7th inning.  Ryan Williams had a 2 RBI Single to tie the game.  Then Cole Phelps had a game winning RBI double for the walk-off win.

 

Leading hitters for RRHS:  Logan Simonowich with 2 hits and 1 RBI.  Ryan Williams with 2 hits and 4 RBI.  Cole Phelps with 2 hits and 1 RBI.  Carson Arthur with 2 hits.  Logan Smith and Nick Horvath both scored 2 runs each.

 

"This was a good season opening win.  The guys showed a lot of chemistry and heart throughout the game and especially in the last inning.  I am proud of the way we played tonight," said head coach Mark Snead.

 

Next game is at home on Friday versus Northern Nash at 5pm.
