Jay Baker whose term as governor's appointee on the Halifax Community College Board of Trustees expired this year, was honored last week while Ruel Solomon was sworn in to finish out the term of his late wife.

During the June 24 board of trustees meeting Baker was recognized for his years of service to the college.

“I enjoyed serving on the board of trustees and enjoyed the opportunity,” Baker said today.

Roanoke Rapids attorney Sammy Webb will serve in Baker's place.
