RRPD blotter: February 7 and 8

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

Saturday

Around 3 p.m., Master Officer Mark Peck responded to Walmart for a larceny.

Peck learned that Sybrisha Na’Shae Johnson,19, of Brodnax, Virginia, and a 14-year-old juvenile removed items from the store without paying for them.

Peck cited Johnson to court for larceny on February 20 and will be seeking juvenile petitions from Juvenile Services.

Officer Jonathan Benthall assisted.

Around 8 p.m. offices responded to Walmart for a larceny.

While the officers were responding the suspect ran from the area.

Master Officer Chris Babb saw a person matching the description walking from the Walmart area to one of the surrounding gas stations.

He identified the person as Dustin Travis Nowell, 25, of Roanoke Rapids.

During interaction with Nowell, Babb reportedly observed something in the Pepsi bottle from which Nowell was drinking.

When Babb checked the contents he discovered several Xanax pills.

Babb arrested and charged Nowell with possession of schedule IV controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, larceny, possession of stolen goods and trespassing.

Nowell was given a $2,500 bond and a March 13 court date.

Sunday

Around 1 a.m. Officer Patrick Smith responded to a disturbance call in the area of Fifth and Franklin streets.

Smith located three individuals in the area,

Smith spoke with Jesse Lawrence Bradley, 17, of Roanoke Rapids.

After checking the people for weapons he located a smoking pipe on Bradley.

 

Bradley was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and has to appear in court on March 9.
