Bullseye hits Roanoke Rapids dealers

Three more people have been arrested in Operation Bullseye, a countywide drug campaign targeting street-level dealers.

This week's arrests, which were based on controlled buys in Roanoke Rapids, was overseen by the City County Drug Task Force, Captain Anzell Harris of the organization said.

One of the people arrested, Afshon Tarik Lee, 38, was arrested as he was putting in hair extensions, Harris confirmed.

Lee, of Hamilton Street, was arrested for possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana; sell marijuana and deliver marijuana. He was also arrested on an outstanding Halifax County order for arrest.

With the marijuana charges and the order for arrest, Lee received a total $3,000 bond and has a July 22 court date.

Also arrested were Tonya Shearin Boyd, 33, of Powell Street, and Willie Cooper Jr., 31, of Jackson Street.

Boyd faces charges of possession with intent to sell and deliver marijuana, sell marijuana, and deliver marijuana. She was given a $5,000 bond and July 22 court date.

Cooper was charged with possession with intent to sell and deliver cocaine, sell cocaine, and deliver cocaine. Cooper was given a $2,000 bond with a June 3 court date.

Harris said controlled buys from the three were made at Bobby’s in South Rosemary, the Carolina Inn on Jackson Street, and Jimmy’s Convenience Store on Roanoke Avenue.

Task Force Agents D.R. Radford, D. McKeel, and D.J. Hundley conducted the investigation of these cases.

Roanoke Rapids Police Chief Chuck Hasty said of the arrests, “The task force and the police department continues to work together to combat narcotics in the Roanoke Valley.”
