RRPD blotter: December 8-9, 2015

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

One person is in custody and one is still being sought in the attempted murder of an Emporia police officer Sunday.

A fire in the 600 block of Williams Street early this morning caused extensive damage, completely destroying a bedroom and kitchen.

The Northampton County Sheriff's Office reported the following, according to Captain M.D. DeLoatch Sr.:

The Northampton County Sheriff’s Office has filed all but five warrants against a Virginia Beach man reportedly linked to a rash of break-ins in the Lake Gaston area.

Despite continued arrests, City County Drug Task Force agents returned to Sam Powell Dairy Road and arrested Tirrell Desmond Simmons.

A local car dealer has been charged with crimes related to a motor vehicle breaking and entering as well as extortion.
