Tony Lee Sykes, 69, of Gaston passed away Friday, October 27, 2023, at home.
Tony was born June 23, 1954, in Norfolk, VA to the late Harry Lee Sykes and Thelma Rebecca Mills Sykes. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his uncle, Doug Mills; his aunt, Bobbie Mills; his mother-in-law, Ann Megginson.

Tony is survived by his wife of fifty-one years Sharon Sykes; his children, Tony Lee “T.L.” Sykes, II and his wife Melissa of Gaston, Kelly Crandell and her husband Charlie of Farmville and Wendy Sykes of Gaston; his grandchildren, Rebecca Sykes, Allyssa Norwood and her husband Matt, Hannah Anderson and her husband Garrett, Josh Kane, Will Crandell and his wife Amber, Coby Crandell, Zachery Vaughan and Hunter France; his great grandchildren, Gabrielle Norwood, Jamie Myrick, Savannah Myrick, Dalton Anderson, Brayden Crandell and Savannah Crandell; his brothers-in-law, Wayne Starrette of Gaston and Leslie Starrette of Virginia Beach, VA and a special cousin, Kathy Vellanueva and her husband Johnny.
A celebration of Tony’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Charlie Carter and Rev. Eric Bass officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home prior to the service and other times at the home.
