William 'Wiley' W. Reaves

William “Wiley” W. Reaves, 94, of 115 Clearfield Drive, Roanoke Rapids, died Thursday, October 7, 2010, at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Reaves was a lifetime member of First Christian Church where he held various offices in the church including elder, church treasurer, choir member, and Berean Class secretary.  He retired from Champion International Paper Company in 1979, and served in the U. S. Army from 1934 – 1936.

He was born to the late William Alfred Reaves and Ethel Reaves on March 11, 1916, and was also preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Reaves, and a daughter, Jane Martin Reaves.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Myrtle Reaves of the home; one son: William Wiley Reaves, Jr. and his wife, Sementia Ann, of Miramar Beach, Florida; one daughter: Dawn R. LeKites and her husband, Wilson, of Selbyville, Delaware; his grandchildren: Brian Wilson LeKites and Karen LeKites Hockman, of Selbyville, Delaware, and Eric Hansen LeKites of Portland Oregon; his extended family including fivestep-children and 10 step-grandchildren and three step-great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 9, 2010, at 2:00 P.M. at First Christian Church conducted by Mark Wesner, Minister.  Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 8, 2010, from 7 – 8:30 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service which is handling the arrangements.
