Fred grew up in Weldon where he attended Weldon High School. He lived most of his adult life in New Jersey and worked as a galvanized steel worker.
Surviving is his son, Bryce Rauhe of Greenville, NC; sisters, Cherri R. Steadman of Roanoke Rapids, and Donna Cook and husband, Don, of Topanga, CA; his brothers, John Daniel Rauhe of Roanoke Rapids, and Scott Rauhe and wife, Janet of Graham, NC.
