Jerry Roy Ammerman

Jerry Roy Ammerman, 75, died Saturday, August 6, 2016, at Vidant Health Center in Greenville, NC.

Jerry was born in Elmira, NY, November 5, 1940, to the late Charles S. Ammerman and Florence Fraley Ammerman. Jerry was a longtime resident of Henrico having lived in the Little Emporia community since the early 1970’s. After his retirement from Georgia Pacific as a Forester, Jerry started his own tree removal business, Jerry’s Tree Service. He believed in hard work and staying busy, so when he was not cutting trees you could find him building anything from docks to fences. Jerry was also an avid outdoorsman with a love for hunting and would travel around the country, even into Canada, for big game hunting trips. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving is his daughter, Andrea Ammerman of Gasburg; brother, Frank Ammerman of Longwood, FL and his faithful dog, Timber. Also surviving are his longtime friends, Pete Smith, Jerry Richardson, Melvin Bradley, and his Florida buddy, Ronnie Norwood.
Pastor Greg Hand will conduct a service of remembrance Wednesday, August 10, 2016, at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, 175 Ankum Road, Gasburg, at 4:00 pm. The family will receive friends at 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, also at the church.
The family has suggested, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to Gasburg Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 386, Gasburg, VA 23857, and/or, Central Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 225, Gasburg, VA 23857.
