Alton Monroe Hester

Alton Monroe Hester, 59, a resident of Raeford, N.C. , died Monday, November 29, 2010, at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst, N. C.

Mr. Hester was born May 6, 1951. His parents were the late James Moseley, Jr. and Florine Clary Moseley.

He was devoted to his country and was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps and in the Army National Guard for 33 years.

Mr. Hester is survived by his wife, Ann Lowery Hester, of the home; his children: Alex Hester of Hillsborough, N. C.; Kim Hester Sanders and her husband, Robbie, of Roanoke Rapids, Vincent Lowery and Stephen Locklear and his wife, Myra, of Raeford, and Mitchell Locklear and his wife, Glenda, of Concord, N. C., four brothers: Wilson Ray Hester and wife, Lisa, and Walter Lee Hester  of Roanoke Rapids, Jackie Cole Hester and wife, Debbie, of Gaston, and James Edward “Pete” Moseley  and wife, Jenny, of Loganville, Georgia; two sisters: Betty Jean Hester Stokes and husband, Bill, of Jefferson, Georgia, and Doris Moseley Patterson  of Roanoke Rapids;  his grandchildren: Andrew, Amanda, Jason, Sierra, Kasidy, Kyle, and Evan, Adrian Lowery and Jeremy Lowery of Raeford, Mitchell Gray Locklear and Lucas Gage Locklear of Concord, N. C. and Chloe Lowery of Lumberton; also surviving are his special friends, Buster and Rosa Harris, and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service in Roanoke Rapids, N. C. on Friday, December 3, 2010, at 3:00 P.M. conducted by Rev. Teddy Jacobs, Rev. Damien Revels, and Rev. Annie Marie Smith.   Burial will follow in Old Cedarwood Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening, December 2, 2010, from 7 – 9 P. M.
