Louise Cooke Lowman

Louise Cooke Lowman, 93, died Friday, December 17, 2010 at Guardian Care-Roanoke Rapids.

Ms. Lowman was born in Halifax County, October 13, 1917 to the late Charles Wesley Cooke, Sr. and Cookie Jane Powell Cooke.  She was a housemother for girls through the Department of Corrections and a life long member of Smith United Methodist Church.  In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by four brothers, Sanford, William, Wesley, Calvin and Robert Cooke and her sister, Virginia Parrish.

Surviving are her daughter, Nancy Switzer of Roanoke Rapids; three grandchildren, Eric S. Switzer of Tulsa, OK, Chris L. Switzer of Windsor, GA, and Stacey Lange of Charlottesville, VA; six great grandchildren, Stefan Switzer, Kristen Switzer, Jason Switzer, Allison Lange, Charles Lange and Samantha Lange.  Also surviving is one great-great grandchild, Benjamin Switzer and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday, December 20th from 6-8 PM.  Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Curtis Mull at Smith United Methodist Church Tuesday, December 21st at 11:00 AM.  Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to Smith United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1216 Smith Church Rd. Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
