She was born in Halifax County, daughter of the late Thomas O’Brien Barnes and Hattie “Virgie” Crawley Barnes. Mrs. Martin was a stay-at-home Mom and later worked with Barnes Sales until her retirement after 45 years of service.
She was a member of First Christian Church, the Church Circle, and choir.
Mrs. Martin was an avid UNC Tar Heel fan and she loved walking.
She is preceded in death by her first husband, Garland Earl Holloman; daughter, Rebecca Jane Campbell; brothers, Ellis Barnes and Henry Barnes; sister, Virginia Butts; daughter-in-law, Cathy S. Holloman.
Surviving are her husband, William Bruce Martin, of Roanoke Rapids; sons, Garland E. Holloman ,Jr, of Chesapeake, VA, T. Vance Holloman and his wife, Margot, of Fuquay Varina, NC; sister, Shirley Shaw and her husband, Fred, of Roanoke Rapids; brother, Donald Barnes, of Roanoke Rapids; grandchildren, Brittany L. Holloman, Christopher and Daniel Wise, Heather Martin; several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the staff of Signature Healthcare of Roanoke Rapids and Hampton Manor, Gaston, NC.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00pm Thursday, March 16, 2017, in the Chapel of Wrenn, Clarke, & Hagan Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Randy Martin officiating.
Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery.
The family will receive friends, Wednesday evening, March 15, 2017, at the Funeral Home from 7:00 until 8:30.
