James “Junior” Vaughan

Coca Cola Man

Mr. James “Junior” Vaughan, 84, of Rich Square, died Wednesday, August 23, 2017.

Junior was born in Halifax County to the late James Henry and Stella Barnes Vaughan.

He was also preceded in death by his sisters; Virginia Vaughan Bishop and Annie Vaughan, brothers; Randolph Vaughan, Henry Earl Vaughan, and Larry Wade Vincent.

Junior retired from Coca Cola after 40 years of service, earning the nickname “Coca Cola Man.” He and his wife ran a flea market for many years, and loved yard sales, fishing and hunting.

An avid storyteller, he loved to talk about his baseball days with his brothers and other family, fishing and hunting adventures, and stories in general about his life.

Junior is survived by his wife Sue Vaughan, two sons; Chris Vaughan and his wife Cristel of Roanoke Rapids and Jamie Vaughan of Wilmington. One daughter, April Vaughan McKee and her husband Steve of Nashville. Brothers; Shelby Vaughan and his wife Brenda of Rockingham NC, Wayne Vaughan and his wife Judy of Kelford NC, Ron Vincent and his wife Cecilia of Douglasville GA, and Bennie Ray Vincent and his wife Mary Lou of Ooltewah, TN.  Grandchildren Christina Vaughan, Jaci Vaughan, Allison McKee Askew, Alexis Vaughan, Logan Vaughan and Katie Bowman.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday August 26, 2017 at 3:00 P.M. at Wrenn, Clarke and Hagan Funeral and Cremation Chapel with Rev. Robert Rogers and Rev. Doug Spivey officiating.

Burial will follow at Cedarwood Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 1:30 until service time.
