Mary was born December 16, 1922, in Sampson County, a daughter of Moses and Ressie (Warren) Warren.   

She was a graduate of Plainview School in Sampson County.

Mary was a hardworking woman, having retired from the sewing plant at New Carolina Industries.  

She loved her family and enjoyed cooking, especially her wonderful chicken pastry.   

She lived a Godly life and loved her church, New Hope United Methodist, in Roanoke Rapids.

Survivors include her son, John Richard Sanders (Kathy); daughters, Rebecca Sanders Merritt, Dorothy Moseley (Ronald “Duck”), Earline Waters, Nancy Tippens (Norman); 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl Sanders; brother, Woodrow Warren; sister, Louise Godwin; and a grandson, Jason Waters.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 2, 2018, at New Hope United Methodist Church with Rev. Sue Owens officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:30 P.M. Thursday at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.
