She was born December 5, 1930 to the late Willie Andrew Arp and Lucinda Moore Arp. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Randolph Clements ; her brothers, James “Pete” Arp, Willie Arp and Robert Arp; her sisters, Daisy Arp Old and Ethel Arp Williams.
She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She retired from both J.P. Stevens and the Bibb Company. She was an avid fisher and sports fanatic, especially enthusiastic about the Atlanta Braves, UNC Tarheels and Washington Redskins. She was a former member of both the Nite Owl and Southern Belle bowling leagues.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marie Clements Joyner and her husband John of Gaston; Fay Clements Phillips and her husband Sam of Henderson; one granddaughter, Tammy Denise Ramsey of Durham; one great granddaughter, Jaidyn Marie Ramsey of Gaston; one brother-in-law, Glenn Williams and wife Margaret of Roanoke Rapids, and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express our deepest appreciation for the care provided by the staff of Liberty Commons, the staff of 5th Floor of Halifax Regional Medical Center and Dr. Courage.
Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 3:00 P.M. at Crestview Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. The family will receive friends Monday, October 17, 2011 from 7:00-9:00 P.M. at Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service.
