Richard Douglas Andleton

Richard Douglas Andleton, 74 of Roanoke Rapids passed away Thursday, October 20, 2011 at Halifax Regional Medical Center.

He was born April 19, 1937 to the late Linwood and Lillie Belle Andleton.  In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, “Pearl” Victoria and two brothers, Howard and L.B.

Mr. Andleton is survived by three daughters, Camelia Clark of Baskerville, VA, Lynn Ramirez of Wilmington, NC and Suzette Rudd and husband Calvin of Wilson, NC; five grandchildren, Angela Broglin and husband Danny of Roanoke Rapids, Austin Hoefler and Sheldon Ramirez of Wilmington, NC, Calvin Rudd of Dunn, NC and Brandon Rudd of Erwin, NC; three sisters, Patricia Rowland of Halifax, Betty Cifers of Emporia, VA and Connie Scott of Roanoke Rapids; special aunt,  Dorothy Green, close friend, Bobby Birdsong and numerous extended family andfriends.

Mr. Andleton retired from the local paper mill. He was an avid reader, local craftsman and camping enthusiast.  He dearly loved to gather with his family and friends, especially on his back deck.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Sunday, October 23, 2011 in the chapel of Hockaday Funeral and Cremation Service with Rev. Adam Speight officiating.  The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:30 P.M., Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the funeral home and other times at the home.  Burial will follow at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery.
