Dwight Ross McKinney Sr.

Dwight Ross McKinney, Sr., 58, died at his residence on Robinson Dr. Friday, September 27, 2013.

Mr. McKinney was born in Norfolk, Virginia July 18, 1955 to Wilbur Ross “Bill” McKinney and Mary Fisher McKinney.  He was a member of Grace Baptist Church and owner/operator of McKinney’s Repair Service.  He was a faithful servant; always working for the Lord. Mr. McKinney is preceded in death by his father, Wilbur Ross “Bill” McKinney.


Surviving is his wife, Barbara “Brucie” McKinney of the home; son, D. Ross McKinney, Jr. of the home; daughter, Diane McKinney Clay and husband, Daniel, and their children, Harleigh and Wyatt, of Roanoke Rapids; faithful companion, Snoopy; mother, Mary McKinney of Roanoke Rapids; mother-in-law, Barbara House of Hobgood; brother, Chris McKinney and wife, Beth, of Roanoke Rapids, brothers-in-law, Hugh House and wife, Pat, of Wilmington, NC and W.R. House of Hobgood; sisters, Trudi Taylor and husband, Wade, of Roanoke Rapids , Libby McKinney of Roanoke Rapids, and Lanette Ritter and husband, Jeff, of Camden, NC; sisters-in-law, Debra Stewart and husband, Bob, of Leggett, NC and Kim Harkins and husband, Randy, of Rocky Mount, NC.  Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, Sunday, September 29, 2013 from 7-9 pm and all other times at 204 Robinson Dr.

Pastor Wesley Agee will conduct funeral services at the chapel in Hockaday Monday, September 30, 2013 at 2:00 pm with interment to follow in Cedarwood Cemetery, Roanoke Rapids.

In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorial contributions be made to: Grace Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 943, Gaston, NC 27832.

The family wishes to give a special thank you to all the staff at Community Home Care & Hospice.
