Daphne B. Collins 1930-2013


Daphne  Gray Bartley Collins, age 82, Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, passed away peacefully in Draper, Utah on Thursday, September 26, 2013, of age related causes.   

She was born to the late Edgar Lloyd Bartley and Susie Faulkner, Oct. 9, 1930 in Roanoke Rapids, N.C.   Dee graduated from Gaston High School on May 19, 1949. She married her sweetheart Hamlin Allen Collins on December 24, 1949, and lived in Roanoke Rapids, NC before relocating to Ellington AFB, in Houston, Texas where she joined her husband who was in the Air Force. 

Dee was a kind, generous, and self -sacrificing woman that was a devoted wife and mother.   She loved reading, bowling and eating at Carrabba’s, but most of all, she loved being with her family. 

Dee is survived by her daughter Miriam Ann Harrell (Harris) and son Allen Ray Collins; grandchildren: Joy Geraci, Shaunna Carlson (Mike), Renee Harrell (Andrew Dressel),  Holly Walker Roose (Scott),  Austin Collins, and  Rachael Dominguez (Ariel);  great-grandchildren:  Michael Walker, Brittney Walker, Ryan Roose, Ashlun Carlson , Madison Carlson, Collin Carlson, Sophia Dominguez, and Abram Dominguez; brothers Alan Ryan Bartley and Arden  McKay Bartley (Mildred).  Preceded in death by her parents Edgar Lloyd Bartley and Susie Brillia Faulkner and brother  Edgar Wayne Bartley. 

Graveside services will be held Monday, September 30, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Crestview Memorial Cemetery.  The family will receive friends prior to the service at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Harmony Health Care and The Wentworth for their loving care.
