William Walter Eason Jr.

William Walter Eason, Jr., 85, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014.

Mr. Eason was born July 3, 1928 in Halifax County to the late William Walter Eason, Sr. and Jennie Mae Carter Eason.  A jack of all trades, Bill enjoyed woodworking, fishing, gardening and golf.  He was an avid reader and world traveler.  Over the years, Bill and his wife, Charlotte, enjoyed many hours traveling the countryside as genealogists.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Eason was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte Davis Eason and sisters, Ruby Weiss, Sally Workman, Annie Freuler, Dorothy Bland, and Mary Moore. 

Surviving are his daughters, Willa Eason Moyer, and husband, Robert, of Raleigh, Beverly Viverette, and husband, Don, of Sharpsburg, and Shelia Wheeler, and husband, Terry, of Roanoke Rapids; sister, Dolly Deaver, and husband, Bob, of Louisville, KY; grandchildren, Robert Chadwick Moyer, and wife, Holly, of Jacksonville, FL, Kristi Dillard, and husband, Jeremy, of Raleigh, Scott Viverette of Sharpsburg, Laura Pair, and husband, Joseph, of Roanoke Rapids, John Viverette, and wife, Brooke, of Sharpsburg, and Collin Wheeler of Morehead City.  Also surviving are his great-grandchildren, Logan Cutright, Jordan Dillard, Carter Pair, and Finley Grace Pair.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Community Home Health and Hospice and to his caregivers, Ella Alston, Brenda “Bea” Alston, Audrey Williams, Barbara Harvey, and Valerie Bradley.

The family will receive friends at Hockaday Funeral & Cremation Service, Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from 7-8:30 pm.  Dave Chapman, Minister, will conduct a graveside service at Cedarwood Cemetery, Wednesday, March 19, 2014 at 2:00 pm.
