Weldon police Chief James Avens said investigators have leads they are pursuing following a bomb threat made to Halifax Community College today.

RRPD seeks help in five cases

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying suspects in four crimes which occurred this month and one which occurred in February.

 

Roanoke Rapids Graded School District Trustees, Halifax Community College and Halifax County commissioners cut the ribbon Sunday afternoon on the new Roanoke Rapids Early College High School at the former Armory building next to the historic Roanoke Rapids High School.  

The Roanoke Rapids Police Department reported the following, according to Chief Chuck Hasty:

A Wilson man died Saturday in a single-vehicle crash on American Legion Road, according to the state Highway Patrol.

Woman charged in Cook Out crash

Two University of Delaware students struck by a car late this morning have been treated and released from Halifax Regional and a Garysburg woman has been charged.

Two flown out for treatment following crash

Two people were flown to a trauma center today for treatment following a crash which occurred in the Cook Out parking lot.

The man who allegedly robbed PNC Bank in December was remanded to the custody of United States Marshals today after breaking terms of his previous federal release.

Despite efforts to find an alternate location to have an early voting site in the city, there will be no one-stop precinct in Roanoke Rapids this year.
