Friday night was Senior Night or as the Vikings called it; Andrew Bryant night.

Bryant is the sole senior on the 2014 Varsity baseball team. He was honored and recognized before the game started and presented gifts by the entire baseball team.

The Vikings struck first scoring 1 run in bottom of 1st inning when Blackman got on off an error, Ryan Mizelle walked and advanced when Bryant hit into a fielders choice. Mizelle eventually scored on a passed ball. Vikings left bases loaded twice during the game.

The game was tied going into the 3rd inning. Andrew Bryant led off with a double and advanced to 3rd on fielders choice by Landen Poole. Bryant scored when the 1st baseman tried to throw him out at 3rd and committed a throwing error.

In the 5th inning, Landen Poole led off with a walk and advanced to 3rd on passed balls by the catcher. Tyler Jomo was also walked and Poole scored when Matthew Wray advanced on a dropped 3rd strike and a throwing error on the catcher. Collin Smith hit a solo home run in the 6th inning.

Parrotts bats and fielding errors were too much for the Vikings to overcome.

The final score was 9-4.

The Vikings are awaiting word to find out if they will be playing in the State tournament.

Side note from myself - Randy Wrenn

Andrew, it was a great pleasure to meet you several years ago and not only photograph you in the games, but to watch your leadership on and off the fields and court at Halifax Academy. I have watched from the sidelines as your teammates looked to you for advice and your leadership. You will be missed by myself when I hit the football sideline next season as well as the basketball court and then of course the baseball diamond. I wish you the best of luck in your future my friend.
