Roanoke Rapids softball team played a day early and earned a big win.

Roanoke Rapid's Jordan Carpenter ended up being a key player in Wednesday's 4-3 revenge win over #1 Northern Carolina Conference South Granville.

 

Sierra Hearp pitched from the mound for the entire seven innings. She allowed 2 walks, 5 hits, 3 runs and had 4 strike-outs.

 

Down 3-1 in the bottom of the 6th inning, Carpenter's two run over the fence home-run tied the game 3-3. Then came the bottom of the 7th with the bases loaded, Carpenter's RBI single sealed the game for the Lady Jackets.

 

At the Plate, Roanoke Rapids had 9 hits. Jordan Carpenter had 2 singles, 1 home-run and 3 RBI's, Brooke McClenney had 2 singles and 1 RBI, Hunter Martin and Sierra Hearp each had a double and Morgan Galloway and Brooke Vincent each had a single.

 

Roanoke Rapids improves to 16-3 overall and 10-3 in NCC play.

 

Both South Granville and Bunn are tied for 1st place in the Northern Carolina Conference 11-2 and Roanoke Rapids now sits in third 10-3. South Granville will travel to Warren County May 9th while Roanoke Rapids will travel to Bunn the same day. So it will be down to the last game of the season to see what seed each team will earn for the NCHSAA s=State Play-off.
