Letter from Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets Youth football
The Halifax/North-Hampton Midget Football season is quickly approaching. After a great season last year, Yellow Jacket Midget Football is ready to kick off and begin working on another wonderful season. We are looking forward to continuing and increasing the level of success that this program has created. After a 7-0 finish and a championship in our JV program and a 7-2 finish in the Varsity program we understand that there is still room for improvement. During this 2014 season we will continue to increase player awareness in the basic fundamentals, knowledge, language, safety and sportsmanship of football with our main focus being on SAFETY. Our coaches will be participating in the Heads Up Tackling certification program through USA Football. We will also be having several fundraisers to raise money for a much needed equipment overhaul. The safety of the kids in this program is what’s most important. Studies have shown that the vast majority of injuries typically occur due to poor technique or faulty and defective equipment. By taking steps to have coaches trained in the proper technique and teaching skills of football and by purchasing updated equipment for our players we will be able to better ensure the safety and well-being of our kids. Children turning 7 before July 1st are qualified to play tackle football, this also means that 6th graders who DO NOT turn 12 before July 1st are now qualified to continue playing in the varsity program. We will have 3 one-day registration camps during the summer. These camps will be free for all returning and newly registering Yellow Jacket players. Non-Yellow Jacket players may attend the camp as well for $5 each day. I am looking forward to an absolutely wonderful season with these young men and hope to see many returning and new faces.

Registration Camp Dates
June 24th, July 16th and July 31st Registration 5:30-6:30 Camp 6:30-8:30
Registration forms and fees may be mailed to 142 Mobley Street Roanoke Rapids NC, 27870. Any fees that are mailed need to be made payable to Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jackets and need to be in the form of a check or money order. Forms may be picked up at TJ Davis Recreation Center or Belmont and Manning Elementary School Offices.
