The Community Softball League (CSL) is

coming together and will kick off August 23rd.

Roanoke Rapids business owner Tracy Story saw the need for open slow pitch softball

in the area, With no such league offered in the City league, Story approached the Town

of Gaston commissioners about the use of the softball field at Dwight Hall complex.

 

Story said, “his CSL non-profit organization just wanted to bring the community together

that could play softball. He added that the league would make a donation to the Town for

the use and upgrade to improve the complex. The entire town commissioners were on

board along with Mayor Odom.”

 

Fifteen community businesses stepped up to the plate and sponsored twelve teams for

The Town of Gaston has been working on the one field for several days now and has

major plans for new paint,” said Story. “The town has just supported us with open arms

to make this a Community event, Story added.

 

A full day of softball will kick the season off Saturday August 23rd at 9 AM. All twelve

teams will play a single elimination tournament with great give away's. The regular

season will start September 4th with two games each Monday and Thursday night

and Sunday afternoon. Each team will have at least a ten games schedule and an

end of season tournament.

 

The newly formed U12 travel softball team Lady Venom will be running the concession

stand to help raise money for it's upcoming season and will make a donation back to the CSL.
