Martin NFL rookie cards up for grabs.

Roanoke Rapids English Teacher John Kisic been winning

big on eBay auctions. Well it is big in his heart, about 70

of Roanoke Rapids Native Kareem Martin NFL rookie Topps

football cards.

Kareem Martin is in his rookie year of the NFL with the

Arizona Cardinals as a defensive end, former four year

Roanoke Rapids Yellow Jacket and 2010 NCHSAA Male

Athlete of the year.

Though Kisic never taught Martin, as the yearbook adviser

he had contact with Martin. Kisic stated one fond memory

was when he gave martin advise on signing autographs. " I told

him, always sign for kids and friends and you can ignore the

autograph hounds like I use to be, but be polite," Kisic stated.

Kisic has given about 30 of the cards to current students and

football players so far. He stated, "you should see their faces

light up realizing that they too can reach their goals and

make it to the top like Kareem.

Kisic says his objective in giving out these cards is to send a

subtle message to our students that if they follow Kareem's

example and make good choices and have high standards and

set goals in whatever they do, that they can reach the highest

levels. Roanoke Rapids is a place where that can happen, not

just in football but anything they set their mind too.

"You can look on the back of the card and see "from Roanoke

Rapids" and that means something," stated Kisic.
