KIPP wins on road

The KIPP Pride Panthers picked up their first win of the season Friday night in Columbia.

Larry Cotton rushed for 139 yards and two touchdowns to lead the team in offense, but the defensive stand in the fourth quarter made victory possible.  Columbia's elusive quarterback was sacked for a 20 yard loss with less than 4 minutes remaining by Antonio Davis, and a 4th down desperation pass fell incomplete, setting off a Panther sideline celebration.

Kirby Underdue, Somaji Cole and Keneen Hawkins all had seven tackles each, with Cole adding an interception.  Rakel Holt contributed eight tackles and two tipped passes.

On offense, QB MJ Moody completed 4 of 7 passes for 13 yards, Darius Bobbit added 63 yards rushing and Somaji Cole picked up 18.

KIPP High travels to Northwest Halifax next Friday to take on the Vikings in the first conference game of the season.
