KIPP High win both varsity games at home

It was a long ride back across the Roanoke River Thursday back to Roanoke Rapids.

KIPP High hosted Roanoke Rapids high on the court in Gaston. 

As I drove up and noticed the newly paved parking lot around the KIPP High gym I said to myself, "this looks sharp". Well once I enter the Javaris D. Brinkley Memorial Gymnasium both the varsity girls and boys basketball teams looked even sharper.

The KIPP varsity girls beat Roanoke Rapids 53-42

Leading scorers for Roanoke Rapids were Alizae Neville with 18 points and Brianna Allen with 10 points.

The KIPP varsity boys came from down by 13-20 at halftime to beat Roanoke Rapids 40-36.

Leading scorers for KIPP were:  Jordan Shepard with 11 points, Josh George with 7 points, Larry Cotton & Jaylin Pierce with 6 points each and Jerry Royster with 5 points, Anthony Chatman & Chris Newell with 2 points each while Moses Kheck finished with 1 point.

Leading scorer for Roanoke Rapids was Cameron Yarboro with 16 points.
