Head Coach thoughts
Roanoke Rapids girls basketball head coach Jim
Whitmire's Comments from Friday night's win over
Franklinton.
Ours girls continue to improve in some key areas. Our
shooting percentage is increasing and that is leading
to less missed shots. We are taking more "good shots"
and thus, shooting less overall. This is a trend that I
hope continues. I have stressed "give up the open shot
for the good shot when possible". We still have to
improve on defense and moving the ball against man
to man pressure. The play from our bench is showing
signs of strength and consistency, also a very good
indicator of improvement overall.
We are maturing, and we still have a ways to go, but
I am sure we are on the right track to be a team that
makes plenty of noise in the conference.
Having beat Southern Vance 66 - 50 in the Christmas
Tournament, and now Franklinton 40 - 31, the Jackets
have a little taste of what winning feels like in this very
competitive conference. Please come out and support
all of our teams whenever possible. You will not be
disappointed.”
Roanoke Rapids next games are on the road at NCSMM
next Thursday, and at Bunn next Friday.
