NCISAA 1A Girls State Basketball play-offs held despite the snow
The Halifax Academy varsity girls 2014-15 basketball season has come to an end in Ashville NC.
The NCISAA had already pushed it's state play-offs back one week due to last weeks inclement weather and this week officials sent word for the schools involved that they needed to make the trip and the games would go on.
The #1 seed Oakwood School received a first round bye and picked up another easy win in second round when #9 seed Statesville Christian School did not show and forfeited.
Halifax Academy traveled to Ashville with just six players. Two did not make the state play-off trip, one being due to an illness.
Halifax faced Victory Christian in second round Thursday afternoon in Ashville. Victory Christian earned the win just beating Halifax 34-28.
Leading scorers for Halifax were: Kelly Williams with 16 points, Kim Shearin with 9 points, Jordan Strickland with 2 points and Drew Rose with 1 point.
