Halifax Academy Varsity Vikings win at home against Crossroads Christian from Henderson 22-2 in 4 1/2 innings.

The Viking pitchers only allowed 1 hit for Crossroads. Ryan Mizelle got the start on the mound for the Vikings pitching 1 2/3 innings allowing 1 hit and 2 runs, & striking out 3. Collin Smith pitched 1 1/2 innings allowed no hits, 1 strikeout, walked 1 & hit 1 batter. Reid Lynch closed out the game on the mound for the Vikings making his pitching debut for the year. He faced 6 batters, striking out 3 & walked one.

The Vikings struck early and often with their bats. The 1st pitch thrown to lead off batter Matthew Wray was sent to deep center field for a triple followed immediately by another triple with the next batter, Luke Blackman. Brandon Moody added a double in the 1st.

Crossroads defense struggled throughout the game allowing 11 HA batters to get on base off errors. Vikings defense stepped up also only committing 1 error. Vikings batted around 3 of the 4 innings. Halifax batters kept the hitting going with a single by Blackman, and doubles by Landon Poole & Ryan Hockaday, with Hockaday adding a triple all in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Vikings hit a total of 4 triples in 4 1/2 innings.

Leading batters for Vikings were Ryan Hockaday who went 2/3 with a double & triple, and Brandon Moody 2/3 with a double and a single. Matthew Wray, Luke Blackman, & Ryan Mizelle each had a triple, Landon Poole added a double, Collin Smith, Zac Edwards, & Reid Lynch each added a single.

Vikings travel to St. Thomas More in Raleigh Thursday March 26th for a conference game.
