On Monday afternoon the Roanoke Rapids Baseball team competed in the 2nd Round of the Ray Avery Easter Tournament at Ayden-Grifton High School

RRHS came away with a 9-3 win over Pamlico County High School.

 

Nick Horvath picked up the win on the mound with Colby Warren picking up the save.

The Yellow Jackets took a 1-0 lead in the second inning on Marcus Allen's solo homerun blast over the left-centerfield fence. 

 

Trailing 3-2 in the fourth inning, Tyler Warren hit a 3 RBI double to give RRHS the lead for good. The Yellow Jackets would add four more runs in the fifth inning for the final margin.

 

Head coach Mark Snead stated, "This was a good game for us. We were strong in all three phases of the game. I am proud of the way we responded to our loss on Saturday night. As happy as we are with our victory, our prayers go out to the young man from Pamlico County who was injured during the game. May his recovery be quick so he can return to the field as soon as possible."


1st Round results:  RRHS lost in the first round of the Ray Avery Easter Tournament to host Ayden-Grifton by a score of 12-4.


The Yellow Jackets record now stands at 4-3 overall on the season. RRHS will finish the tournament on Tuesday against East Carteret. Game time is 2pm.
