The Varsity Halifax Academy Vikings baseball team traveled to Goldsboro Thursday for Wayne County Day School Easter Tournament
The Vikings faced Wayne Christian and were visitors so batted 1st. Luke Blackman got the first hit of the game, a single then stole second base, but the Viking batters could not advance him. Wayne Christian scored first with a 2 run home-run hit over the right field fence.
The Vikings struggled offensively today finishing the game with only four hits. Vikings senior, Tyler Jomo did give the Vikings a boost in the top of the 5th inning when he hit a solo home-run over the right centerfield fence.
Leading batters for Halifax were: Luke Blackman 2 for 3 with 2 singles, Tyler Jomo with a home-run & Ryan Mizelle with a single.
Ryan Mizelle started on the mound for the Vikings pitching 3 & 2/3 innings slowing 9 hits, 6 runs & 1 walk. Blackman pitched 2 & 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs, 1 walk, striking-out 3 & hitting 2 batters.
The Vikings lose 1-10.
The Vikings return to Goldsboro tomorrow to face Lee Christian at 11:00 AM.
