The Halifax Academy Varsity Viking baseball team fell at home Monday to Oakwood.
The Viking fell 8-17 to Oakwood of Greenville.
Halifax took a 2 run lead in the 1st, but Oakwook would battle bak in the 2nd tieing the score 2-2. Halifax would take the lead again in the bottom of the 3rd scoring 4 runs and hold a 6-3 lead until the top of the 6th inning.
Starting pitcher for Halifax Luke Blackman started showing signs of fatigue & Oakwoodwould take advantage scoring 9 runs before relief pitcher Ryan Mizelle could take over. Oakwood would score a total 12 run in the 6th inning & added 2 more i the 7th.
The Vikings tried to rally in the bottom of the 7th scoring 2 runs and had bases loaded but were unable to score any additional runs.
Leading batters for Halifax were: Colin Smith with 3 singles, Matthew Wray, Luke Blackman & Brandon Moody with 2 singles each, while Landen Poole had a single.
