Jackets conference Champs

The Roanoke Rapids golf team won the 18 hole 2A Northern Caorolina conference championship at South Granville Country Club Monday. 

This capped off an undefeated conference season for the Yellow Jackets, as they took 1st place in every conference match this season. 

Freshman Thomas Merritt was the co-medalist of the 18 hole match yesterday with William Lewis of Bunn, both shooting 79. 

Hunter Clifton finished 2nd with an 80.  Jackson Gowen finished 3rd with an 82. 

Five Yellow Jacket golfers were named to the All-Conference team.  Listed are their names and conference rank - Sophomore Hunter Clifton (2), Sophomore Jackson Gowen (4), Sophomore Spenser Hargrove (5), Senior Clay Smith (T6), and Freshman Thomas Merritt (T6). 

Also Roanoke Rapids golf coach Tim Stark was name the 2015 2A Northern Carolina Conference coach of the year. 

The Conference win has qualified the Yellow Jackets for the Regional match next Monday, May 4th at Caswell Pines Golf Club in Yanceyville, NC. 

"The team is hopeing to finish in the top 3 in order to qualify for the state tournament as a team," stated coach Stark.
