The matchup between the Blue Wahoos, sponsored by the Roanoke Rapids Police Department, and the Grasshoppers, sponsored by Lisa Christenbury Heating & Cooling was a typical Friday night game on King Field at Ledgerwood Park.
Braxton Hammack lead off for the Blue Wahoos, visiting team, with a triple to center field. Aric Stewart, pitcher for the Grasshoppers took control by striking out three batters leaving the Blue Wahoos scoreless on the top of the 1st.
Andrew Vincent lead off and scored the first run for the Grasshoppers. Braxton Hammack, pitcher for the Blue Wahoos, held the Grasshoppers to one run by striking out three batters in the bottom of the 1st.
The Blue Wahoos tied the game with a double and earned run from Braxton Hammack. Aric Stewart held the blue Wahoos by striking out three batters in the tops of the 2nd.
The Grasshoppers took the lead again with a run scored by Eli Mason. Braxton Hammack held the Grasshoppers by striking out three of four batters in the bottom of the 2nd.
Malik Roberts outrun the throw from shortstop to first base for a single in the top of the 3rd. Aric Stewart held the Blue Wahoos by striking out three of four batters.

The Blue Wahoos made a splash scoring four runs to take the lead in the top of the 4th. Aric Stewart struck out one batter before being relieved by Wesley Boerner who took control of the Blue Wahoos by striking out two batters.
The defense of the Blue Wahoos maintained their momentum with Braxton Hammack striking out three batters and giving up zero runs in the bottom of the 4th.
The Grasshoppers' defense jumped on the Blue Wahoos with a throw down from catcher, Aric Stewart to shortstop, Hunter Sparks who tagged out the runner attempting to steal second base in the top of the 5th. Wesley Boerner finished with two more strikeouts.
The Grasshoppers got the bats swinging with a single from Eli Mason, a Home Run with one earned run from Jordan Hoenig and singles from Brian Smith and Mikey Hartson to tie the game 5-5 in the bottom of the 5th. Peyton Clay, pitcher for the Blue Wahoos, prevented the Grasshoppers from scoring another run with three strikeouts.
Braxton Hammack drove the ball to left field in the top of the 6th. Brian Smith hustled to hold the batter-runner at 1st base. The Blue Wahoos took the lead again with a single and earned run from Conner Hammack. First baseman, Eli Mason tagged out a batter-runner at first base to record the first out of the inning. Aric Stewart, who came back in with determination and heart as pitcher for the Grasshoppers, finished what he started by striking out two batters to hold the Blue Wahoos to a one run lead.
The Grasshoppers continued to gain momentum in the bottom of the 6th with a double from Aric Stewart. Aric stole third base to put himself in position to tie the game. Hunter Sparks drove in the tying run with a double. With the pressure on, Gavin Hux stepped to the plate and put the ball in play down the 1st baseline driving in the winning run for a final score of 7-6.
Neither team gave up and both were determined to win. This was a game you did not want to miss.
