The Roanoke Valley Girls Softball League under 12 all-stars started this weekends Little Tarheel District 7 all-star tournament in Tarboro with a bang.
The U12 team faced Cashie in their tournament opener Saturday and closed the game in three innings by the slaughter rule and the 19-3 win.
Lily Curtis pitched the three innings with 3 strike-outs & allowed 6 walks.
The Roanoke Valley girls picked up their nineteen runs off only 8 hits. Those hits were from Caitlyn Bobbitt & Taylor Kelly with 2 singles each, while Lizzy Colston, Cassidy Dickens, Lily Chappell & Kelsey Bierbaurer each with a single.
The U12 all-stars advanced in the winners bracket to face Camden later in the day, but in the top of the 5th inning with a 2-2 tie, the game was postponed due to rain until Sunday.
