On Saturday October 31st, the Roanoke Rapids High School Cross Country teams competed in the NCHSAA 2A Mideast Regional meet. There were 17 teams from 4 conferences competing in the meet.
The Men's team finished 7th overall in team points. The team was paced by Josh Elias, Semaj Smith, Dakota Sweet, Peyton Jackson, McGilbra Cutchin, David Langley, and Tommy Bradley. "I am really proud of the guys today. Six of our seven runners had personal best times, with Josh and Semaj both running in the 19's. I can't say enough how happy I am for all of them. It has been a great season with a great group of hardworking guys." said head coach Mark Snead.
The Women's team finished 6th overall in team points. The team was paced by Katherine Clayton (12th place overall), Catherine Acree, Alexis Karns, Kate Pleasant, Erica Whitmire, Karalee Miller, and Princess Bello. With their finishes Katherine Clayton and Catherine Acree both qualified for the NCHSAA 2A State Championship meet. "What a great meet for the girls. I am so excited for both Katherine and Catherine for qualifying for the State Meet. That is such a great accomplishment. And they were backed up by the other five girls who ran excellent races as well. This is a great group of girls who have been a joy to coach all year." said head coach Mark Snead
The NCHSAA 2A State Championship meet will be held at the Ivey Redmond Sports Complex in Kernersville, NC on Saturday November 7th.
